Overview

  • Bhopal Development Authority (BDA) on Friday announced two multi-crore development projects in Bhopal.

The decision to this effect was announced after a meeting of the board of directors of the BDA met on Friday and passed the budget for 2015-16, with an estimated revenue of Rs 621.9 crore and expenditure of Rs 616.1 crore.

The projects include developing a smart city over 75 acres in the heart of the city at stud farm near Jinsi Chouraha. The other one includes developing the TT Nagar area which had already got a cabinet nod for its re-densification, said BDA chairman SB Singh.

Discussing other plans, he said there was a plan to demolish old structures in the Old City’s Ramnagar Paribazaar where new apartments would be built. The project would help develop the Old City areas.

Singh said in New Bhopal, the development authority had plans to go vertical in areas like TT Nagar, where after  demolishing 2,400 accommodations, they will construction 4,200 apartments.

He said that they were initiating projects in the city according to the need of that particular area and the usage of the available resources in that area.

Singh said while work on 3,596 apartments for the urban poor was on in the city, this year under the same project they had a proposal to build around 5,000 apartments.

He said chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wanted to see Bhopal develop as a smart city as soon as possible.

“So we are making efforts to realise his dream by making provision for these ambitious projects in our budget this year. In these projects, a detailed project report will be prepared, based on which we will have a rough idea about how much money will be needed for these projects. Besides, we will be developing these projects in the PPP mode,” he said.

The chairman also said after the finalisation of the metro rail project, the BDA had plans to build a flyover here, for which it had kept a provision of Rs 3 crore.
