As a fighter, Clerics are awful in Dark and Darker. They're in all likelihood the worst opponents via default (no longer inclusive of the 'drunken fistfighter' build for Cleric), but they still manage to do o.K. Ordinary. Most of this comes from their potential to use shields, that's a massive plus, and that they have plenty of miracles/spells that focus on the undead. And, for the ones unaware, nearly the whole lot in the dungeon of Dark and Darker is a few sort of undead.
